Organizational Survey
Section 1 -- Organizational Competencies
Organizational competencies are the collective learning, capabilities, and skills of the organization which create value. Organizational competencies can reside in people, processes, and routines.
Directions

Below are six sets of organizational processes. Our purpose is to identify your organization’s comparative competence across the processes now and how you think they should compare in the future.

Please rate each of the processes listed in the questions below by dividing 100 points among alternatives A, B, C, and D for each process. 100 would indicate very high competence and 0 would indicate very low competence. The total points for each set must equal 100. The assessment uses this method to better demonstrate how moving toward one competence also requires moving away from its opposite. That is, it demonstrates the inherent tradeoffs of any approach to developing the desired competencies in your organization.

First rate your comparative current competence on each process in the NOW column. Second, provide the same kind of rating indicating how things must change if your organization is to be successful in the future.

You may divide the 100 points in any way among the four processes in each set. Some processes may get zero points, for example. If the organization were equally competent on all four processes each one would get 25. You may distribute points in any fashion. Remember that the total must equal 100 both in the way you think your organization is right NOW along with another 100 for the way you prefer your organization to be in the FUTURE.

Please rate both your current comparative competence and your desired future comparative competence across each of the following 6 sets of processes.
